I know I've been really quiet this month so far, but I've actually been pretty busy, and should get to see some new stuff very soon! I've got a piece in @Kekiiro's circus zine collab which should be out sometime at the beginning of next week, and then I've also been working on a series of cutscenes for a sort of “hard mode” expansion of Tidying Up!
We brought @chippythecat on board to the Tidying Up team after seeing how much she was able to accomplish with the built in level editor, and the expansion has a bunch of new tiles to help spice things up too! This update has been something we've been planning for a long time, so I'm excited that we're getting pretty close to finally putting it all together. It's very silly.
I also really wanted to take some time to do another “underrated artists” feature though! It's been way too long since I did the last one of these. I think most of the folks on here this time are people I've caught on the front page at one point or another but they're still surprisingly small for the amount of talent they've got.
@decarbry is someone I've found this way most recently, and I immediately fell in love with their compositions and the way they handle backgrounds is nothing short of stunning. I picked out two with some cats here, but they've got quite a bit of variety to their subject matter; it's all fantastic.
@jkn159 has only posted a couple pieces in 2024 so far, but I'm so happy I was able to catch one of them, because I love their character designs SOOOO much! There's so many unique patterns and vibrant colors to them, it makes me think of Chinese New Year celebrations.
@Fvu admittedly doesn't have too many pieces posted yet aside from sketches, but those sketches have so much energy and edgy attitude I decided to include them anyway. Really excited to see where they end up taking this stuff.
@pixiehellpuppy alternates between some nice bright and punchy tattoo/sticker designs, and some dreamier character art, but I think both are a lot of fun; all of it has a real punk rock edge to it.
And then I think we'll close this out with @prismvisual, who's retro aesthetic is absolutely immaculate (and very relevant to my interests) Beautiful textures and a nice nostalgic art style make their stuff feel right at home alongside the cartoons and comics that inspired them.
That's all I've got for this time! I'll probably still be pretty quiet on the art front for about another week as I finish up the last cutscene for Tidying Up, but here's one little sneak preview of that if you want one.
